Business application - maritime transport

Application lead on a complex business system

Development and ongoing maintenance of an application centralising accounting, logistics and financial flows.

Context

Application management for a Spring 5, MySQL, Talend and legacy frontend system. The scope includes about 600 kLOC, 500 tables, 200 users, around ten vessels and several warehouses.

Role

Scoping, estimation, development, acceptance testing, delivery and direct exchanges with client and ASI project managers.

Observable outcomes

Deliveries maintained during the busiest year of the support contract: 57 highest-priority tickets, including a peak of 15 in one month.

Responsibilities and contributions

  • Diagnosed concurrency, data consistency and blocking-flow issues.
  • Improved reliability with scripts, Docker Compose in acceptance testing and CI/CD contributions.
  • Reviewed code, simplified processes and mentored an intern then an apprentice.
  • Prepared and occasionally led client meetings independently.
  • Caught a Talend 8 regression on an operational flow before production.
